Prayers & Proclamations

Why Pray God's Word?

Isaiah 43:26 - Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence.

As we pray our Father's Words back to Him, we are praying His will for our lives, and reminding Him of His precious promises in His Word. Isaiah 55:11 says: "so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." There is no doubt that God's Word has life and power to change us and our circumstances. Just as the Holy Spirit helps us by praying for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words (Romans 8:26), we can use the very Word of God to help us in prayer.

Using Biblical Proclamations

Proverbs 18:21: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Deuteronomy 32:3-4 - "I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he."

We are to proclaim the Living Word to evangelize, encourage, counsel, bless and renew our minds.

Praying God's Word Today:

From Ephesians 3:14-21

Father God, I bow my knees before you, praying that according to the riches of Your glory you may grant us to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in our inner being, so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith - that we, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge, that we may be filled with all Your fullness. Now to You who are able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, to You be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Praying God's Word Today:

From 2 Thessalonians 1: 11-12

Lord God, I pray today in the name of Jesus that you enable us to live a life worthy of Your call. May You give us the power to accomplish all the good things our faith prompts us to do. I pray that You allow the name of Jesus to be honored because of the way we live, and that we are honored along with Him. This is all possible because of Your grace. Amen.

Praying God's Word Today:

From Ephesians 1:17-23

I come to you God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to ask for spiritual wisdom and insight so that I may grow in my knowledge of You. I pray that my heart will be flooded with light so that I can understand the confident hope You have given those you called -Your holy people who are Your rich and glorious inheritance. I also pray that I will understand the incredible greatness of Your power for us who believe You. The same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at Your right hand in the heavenly realms. Now Jesus is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else - not only in this world but in the world to come. You have put all things under Christ's authority and have made Him head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself. To You be the glory! In Jesus' name, Amen.

Praying God's Word Today:

From Psalm 141:1-5

O Lord, I call out to you now! I know you listen when I cry to you for help! May you accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips. Don't let me drift toward evil or take part in acts of wickedness. Don't let me share in the delicacies of those who do wrong. Don't let me refuse correction from the godly. It will be a kindness and soothing medicine.

Praying God's Word Today:

From Psalm 43

1 Declare me innocent, O God!
   Defend me against these ungodly people.
   Rescue me from these unjust liars.
2 For you are God, my only safe haven.
   Why have you tossed me aside?
Why must I wander around in grief,
   oppressed by my enemies?
3 Send out your light and your truth;
   let them guide me.
Let them lead me to your holy mountain,
   to the place where you live.
4 There I will go to the altar of God,
   to God—the source of all my joy.
I will praise you with my harp,
   O God, my God!

5 Why am I discouraged?
   Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
   I will praise him again—
   my Savior and my God!

Praying God's Word Today:

From Psalm 138

1 I give you thanks, O Lord, with all my heart;
   I will sing your praises before the gods.
2 I bow before your holy Temple as I worship.
   I praise your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness;
for your promises are backed
   by all the honor of your name.
3 As soon as I pray, you answer me;
   you encourage me by giving me strength.

4 Every king in all the earth will thank you, Lord,
   for all of them will hear your words.
5 Yes, they will sing about the Lord’s ways,
   for the glory of the Lord is very great.
6 Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble,
   but he keeps his distance from the proud.

7 Though I am surrounded by troubles,
   you will protect me from the anger of my enemies.
You reach out your hand,
   and the power of your right hand saves me.
8 The Lord will work out his plans for my life—
   for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
   Don’t abandon me, for you made me.
