Fear & Intimidation - Bullies from Hell

Updated: Aug 31, 2021

I spoke about fear in my last post, but focused on the very well known enemy-tactic of using our past against us. I see many fellow believers struggling with fear and being intimidated by the unknowns, the "what ifs," and self-doubt. I want to dedicate this post to encourage you to trust in the Lord in all your ways. Do not let fear and intimidation stop you from anything in any area of your life!

Do you feel like you are not good enough? Do you feel as though you're not well qualified? The great news is that He wants to make of you a special utensil for honorable use. He uses what others think of as worthless and makes something great for His Glory.

Some of us have been facing spiritual giants through our family members, coworkers, supervisors, "friends," and neighbors. Intentionally or unintentionally, their actions and comments cause a shift in our behavior and thought process. We stop trusting God and what He can do through us. Some of us fear loneliness and become anxious with thoughts of being alone now or in the future. Some fear the dark; some fear demons; some are intimidated by unfamiliarity (of people, places and things). The enemy will use anything he knows will cause fear and intimidation to paralyze us. He knows we were all born with a God-given purpose, thus he will do whatever he can to keep us from it.

When fear binds our minds, our physical being stops acting on what we're called to accomplish. There is always a beginning to why we fear or feel intimidation by people, places and things. Traumatic experiences and skewed perceptions can create the perfect playground for these hell-sent bullies to push you and knock you down relentlessly. The results are devastating for many us, who end up questioning ourselves and God throughout our lifetime. We try to have healthy relationships and achieve our goals, only to stop halfway with defeat. How do we stop fear and intimidation? By trusting every Word God has given us. By standing firm on His promises. Every time the enemy throws "fiery arrows," we extinguish them with Scripture. Instead of seeking self-confidence, make Him your confidence! My most important weapon is the Bible. I ask the Holy Spirit for help as I search for Scripture that will speak peace, hope, wisdom and strength during any attack from the enemy. I rebuke the enemy with it and I use it to keep me firm in Christ. Any time negative thoughts/feelings want to make their way to my heart and mind, I rebuke and start speaking God's Word to it!

You are a child of God; you belong to Him. Keep studying Scripture, praying, fasting; keep doing His will; keep waiting. If you are waiting for Him to direct you, TRUST that He will speak - He will show you the way. Pray for His Holy Spirit to direct you in stillness to hear from Him. Practice stillness before Him. Search the Scriptures to find verses or stories that will strengthen your Faith and give you the peace and confidence you need. Keep reading those verses until they are recorded in your heart. Our Lord and Savior will not leave you, nor forsake you. Expect confidently His salvation and deliverance for your life and situation. I am with you in prayer!

Here is some encouraging truths and promises from our Father to us:

2 Timothy 2:21 (NLT)

If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.

2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT)

...Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.

1 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NLT)

8 He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. 9 God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:24-31 (NLT)

24 But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy when God called you. 27 Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

30 God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. 31 Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)

7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. 8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

Psalm 68:5-6 (NLT)

5 Father to the fatherless, defender of widows— this is God, whose dwelling is holy.

6 God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.

But he makes the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Proverbs 30:5 (NLT)

5 Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

Ephesians 6: 10-20 (NLT)

10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. 19 And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. 20 I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
